In Islam,
La'nah (the curse of Allah) is a very serious matter. It signifies that Allah's mercy is withdrawn from a person due to their grave actions or sins. As Muslims, knowing the types of people whom Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) have cursed can help us protect ourselves from falling into such major sins.

1. Those Who Deal With Riba (Interest/Usury)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“Allah has cursed the one who consumes Riba, the one who gives it, the one who records it, and the two witnesses to it.”
(Sahih Muslim 1598)


2. Those Who Curse or Abuse Their Parents

“May Allah curse the one who curses his parents.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)


3. The One Who Gives or Takes a Bribe

“The Messenger of Allah cursed the one who gives a bribe and the one who takes it.”
(Abu Dawood 3580)



4. Women Who Pluck Eyebrows or Get Hair Extensions, and Those Who Tattoo

“Allah has cursed those who pluck their eyebrows, get tattoos, and those who add hair.”

(Bukhari 5931, Muslim 2125)


5. Picture Makers of Living Beings

“The people who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Judgment will be those who make pictures (of living things).”
(Bukhari 5954, Muslim 2109)


6. Men Who Imitate Women and Women Who Imitate Men

“The Prophet (peace be upon him) cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men.”
(Bukhari 5885)


7. Those Who Accuse Chaste, Innocent Women

“Indeed, those who accuse chaste, unaware, believing women are cursed in this world and the Hereafter.”
(Qur’an 24:23)


8. Those Who Change Allah’s Creation for Beauty (Without Need)

This includes unnecessary plastic surgery and altering one’s features for fashion.

“...and they will alter the creation of Allah.”

9. Women Who Ask for Divorce Without Valid Reason

“Any woman who asks her husband for divorce without reason, the scent of Paradise will be forbidden for her.”

10. Those Who Drink, Serve, Sell or Are Involved in Alcohol

“The Messenger of Allah cursed ten people in connection with alcohol…”
Including the one who drinks it, serves it, sells it, buys it, etc.

11. Those Who Break Family Ties

“No one who cuts off family ties will enter Paradise.”
(Sahih Muslim)


12. Those Who Bear False Witness

“Should I not inform you of the greatest of the major sins?... False statement and giving false testimony.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)


13. The One Who Does Sodomy (Same-Sex Acts)

The Prophet (SAW) said:

“May Allah curse the one who does the act of the people of Lut.”
(Ahmad & Tirmidhi – classified as Hasan)



14. Those Who Innovate in Religion (Dangerous Bid‘ah)

“Every innovation is misguidance and every misguidance is in the Fire.”
(Abu Dawood 4607)
While not every bid’ah is a curse, major innovations in belief or worship can be.

“Those who mislead others knowingly are cursed.”
(Qur’an 37:162–163)


16. Those Who Curse the Sahabah or Wives of the Prophet

Some scholars consider this deserving of la’nah due to the sacred position of the Prophet's companions and family.



Final Thoughts:

The mercy of Allah is vast, but so is His justice. These warnings are not to cause despair but to protect us. If we’ve ever fallen into one of these sins, we must make sincere Tawbah (repentance), as Allah is always ready to forgive.
